Fairy Ranmaru ~We'll Save Your Heart~ (Fairy蘭丸 (フェアリーらんまる) ～あなたの心 (こころ) お助 (たす) けします～ Fearii Ranmaru Anata no Kokoro Otasuke Shimasu^?) is an original anime created by Studio Comet that ran from April 8th, 2021 to June 24, 2021 on AT-X at 11:00 p.m. JST. It also aired on Tokyo MX and BS NTV. It is available to stream legally in North America on crunchyroll.com.

Plot[]

Set in a world of cruelty and heartbreak, Fairy Ranmaru follows five male fairies disguised as humans. They work at the mysterious Bar F and offer to heal the woes of their human "clients," wiping away their tears and causing smiles to bloom like flowers. They take no payment... aside from stealing their clients' hearts.

Background Information[]

The Fairy Clans[]

There are five Fairy Clans in the sacred world: Lux, Ignis, Aqua, Arbor, and Metallum. Each work hard in maintaining the balance and society of the sacred world. Each clan has its own role in the sacred world, as Jyuka further explains in Episode 4:

• The Lux Clan handles the religious sites.
• The Ignis Clan handles provides military protection.
• The Aqua Clan handles civil duties and government administration.
• The Arbor Clan handles healing, rejuvenation and protecting nature.
• The Metallum Clan handles financial affairs.

The Aqua and Ignis Clans seem to have a longstanding feud, fueling mistrust for one another. The Lux Clan is venerated as the "aces" of the fairy world, and their members appear to be few in number.

The Ten Laws of Fairies[]

The rules given to Ranmaru and others by the Queen whilst they live in the human world. They are forbidden from the following:

1. Romance: Never fall in love with the opposite sex.
2. Wrath: Never hold feelings of anger or hatred.
3. Envy: Never desire that which another possesses.
4. Apathy: Never fail to aid a person in need.
5. Lust: Never engage in a physical relationship with the opposite sex.
6. Violence: Never harm another.
7. Hedonism: Never consume alcohol, cigarettes, or drugs.
8. Degeneracy: Never behave in an undisciplined manner.
9. Pride: Never grow vain about your own power.
10. Liberation: Never reveal your true identity.

Takara explains that fairies will not necessarily die when breaking the rules, but that there are numerous "former fairies" on Earth who were demoted to humans as a result of violating the laws. However, he does not explain of how serious a fairy's violation of the ten laws need to be before becoming human or how exactly a fairy is demoted and becomes human.

Despite these rules being presented as very strict, the fairies are seen breaking them numerous times during the course of the anime, primarily by Takara, Uruu and Homura.

Attachment[]

Attachment (Japanese: 愛著 aijaku) is the power that is created when a person's heart moves greatly, forming as a mass of energy either in the chest or the neck. Ranmaru and his friends, who are highly valued in the sacred world are ordered by the Queen to go to the human world and gather this energy. Further into episode 1, Jyuka states that he didn't have a clue on how to get attachment, meaning that despite being chosen by the Queen herself, she nor did any other clan members of the protagonists' explained to them of the process of getting attachment. Attachment also has a different quality depending on the fairy's prowess in expelling the energy from a human, the clan a fairy is from can also depend on how easily a fairy may be able to obtain attachment. According to the butler of the Queen, Takara's expelled attachment is of the finest quality.

An impure attachment has a purple and pink aura radiating around a white center that dissipates as it floats further from said center; there is also a condensed purple ring surrounding the white center and the pink section fades into a magenta hue when closer to it. This aura is reflected in the affected 'host' but is simplified to a murky purple presence surrounding the person, and a red glow often accompanying their eyes. The size is relatively the same between a male and female 'host' of the impure attachment and the same can also be said about the presence of the affected 'host.' An impure attachment can develop in anyone, possibly a fairy as well if they too can produce attachments, in episode 3, after purifying the attachment, Uruu's client grew cocky and criticized the former affected 'host,' not long after a purple presence emerged from them and their eyes attained a red glow; this development of a new impure attachment had caused Uruu to decide to 'purify' his own client as well.

A pure attachment is the purified form of attachment that no longer has evil intentions or motives residing within it. It has a white center similar to it's impure form but in contrast it has a bright aura that fluctuates between orange and green with the area around the center staying to a yellow color. These attachments are immediately sent to the Queen after the fairy's has cleansed them, which also cleanses the affected 'host' and therefore they lose the purple presence along with the red glow on their eyes as they had in the human world. Nevertheless it is unknown what the Queen does with these attachments that she receives.

After the attachment has been expelled, the client and the originally affected 'host' have no memory of what happened with their respective fairy, yet that doesn't go saying that the human world hasn't changed. In the aftermath of the event in that the fairy has expelled attachment, the affected 'host' is exposed of their crimes or wrongdoings and the client has a 'happy ending' so to speak, living or doing better than they had previously.

BAR "F"[]

A bar mastered by Takara in the near outskirts of the city. The bar serves as a home for Ranmaru along with his 'family' live together on the second floor while the five are pursuing their mission in the human world, and it seems it would be able to perform as an actual bar as the interior has the general design of one and the shelves harbor bottles of alcohol. There is a business card for the bar given to Ranmaru and his friends by Takara, the five always carry it with them and give them to people for them to 'contact' the certain fairy to save their hearts. The card has a simple design, with a pink background on both sides, the front side having the text 'BAR' in the upper left hand corner and the logo of the bar in the center. The backside of the card has the text "We'll Save Your Heart" in the middle along with a QR Code on the bottom right hand corner.

The sign for the bar is simple one, the logo being a cursive 'F' with the smaller arm being replaced by a bow with a wing as it's feathers and a heart instead of a sharp head.

The bar does not have a bath, but the fairies go to a local spa called "Thermae Fata" reserving the bath on the roof of the establishment. In these scenes the five discuss what is going on, generally pertaining to the episode at hand.

Et Franc de Muse Academy[]

A co-educational high school where Ranmaru along with Uruu, Homura, and Jyuka attend as students with Ranmaru specifically enrolling as a transfer student. There is a school song which is sung every episode when the school makes its first appearance in each episode. The first episode centers around this environment and also establishes the general atmosphere of the school. The school grounds are vast, and have animals such as goats on them. There seems to be a gardening club as we see Jyuka tending to flowers during the school song, and we also see that Uruu is the student council president, however it is unknown how many clubs the school has aside from gardening nor the other members of the student council.
